About Lifetime Design

It is no secret that the way our houses and everyday products have been designed don't work for a large percentage of the population.  Thanks to Lifetime Design all that is changing because Lifetime Design sets new standards for accessible design and adaptable home design.

Lifetime Design is an independent not-for-profit, social enterprise and will be of interest to individuals, organisations, community groups and businesses who share a passion for promoting products, services and environments that are designed in such a way that they include and reflect the diverse demands of today’s consumers – including young families, older people and people with disabilities.

Lifetime Design is an approach to the design and development of products and environments that people of all ages and abilities are able to use to the greatest extent possible.  The purpose of Lifetime Design is to act as the bridge between the community and designers, manufacturers, architects, builders and other industry groups with the following objectives:

•    To promote the Principles of Lifetime Design and accessible and adaptable house design through leadership, education and advocacy
•    To oversee the development and management of Lifetime Design Standards, Trademarks and other intellectual property

Whilst Lifetime Design doesn’t build houses, or sell them we have set the standards and guidelines for accessible design, adaptable design and inclusive house design.  Lifetime Design endorses the Lifemark™ seal of approval and is the resource centre for inclusive design, accessible design and adaptable design solutions.

Lifetime Design's standards are freely published and available to all click here
