How to get a Lifemark
approved home

So you're looking to buy or build a new home.  It's an exciting experience, but it can be daunting.  How do you know if you've thought of everything - or everybody?

We take it for granted that a new home will have enough bench space for kitchen appliances, a dual flush toilet and smoke alarms.  We don't think about the way different people will use these standard features.  Just because it's new doesn't mean it will work for you.

The good news is that choosing a home that has been awarded the Lifemark lets you know that the design has passed a strict, independent approval process.  It means the home you are choosing has been designed to give everyone - you, your family and your friends - the freedom to move and feel right at home.

There are two ways to enjoy a Lifemark approved home.  Either buy a home that is already constructed and carries the Lifemark seal of approval, or work with your architect or builder to incorporate the LifeStandards into your new design.

Only designs that have been independently approved by Lifemark Ltd as meeting the LifeStandards can carry the official Lifemark seal of approval.

All around the country a growing number of architects, designers, builders, developers and retirement village operators are designing and building homes that carry the Lifemark seal of approval.

Take a look around any house and you’ll quickly see if it’s built to last a lifetime.  Lifemark sets out clear and easy-to-spot design features you can check yourself on our checklist.  There are six critical areas with 33 design features to tick off.
