Smith house in Christchurch: 5-Star rating

When Mike and Julie Smith began to research and plan their ultimate new house they knew they wanted a builder and a designer that could use their vision and work through their design concept with early engagement. Their dream design was an open, spacious and level home with good indoor – outdoor flow. Any issues around the constructability of the home were resolved and the Lifemark® design elements only enhanced what The Smiths wanted from their new home in Christchurch.

Mike Smith said: “When Jason at Higham Architecture introduced us to the Lifemark® concept it really appealed to us, it made a lot of sense. We had a vision of en-suite bathrooms, walk in wardrobes, wide open cavity sliders and a laundry in a cupboard behind bi-fold doors. Jason ensured each aspect was in line with the Lifemark® Standards to achieve a 5-Star rating.

The best possible home

“We lived in the Christchurch area 25 years before the earthquake and we didn’t want to leave. We wanted a home for our retirement and also somewhere for our sons to come and stay. By working with Lifemark® through Higham Architecture we were able to slightly adjust aspects of our design to ensure we were building the best possible home to serve these needs, that was easy to live in and sustainable. Many of the Lifemark® design features naturally result in this and make the house very easy to maintain. We’re really enjoying our new home.”
