Christchurch Rebuild with Lifemark™

Because we offer our service to people with varying levels of support, and these can change over time, by using the Lifemark™ philosophy we know that it will work for people now and in the future.

Lifemark Partners Miles Construction are completing 25 new social housing properties in Christchurch. Harman Courts, HP Smith Courts and Berwick Courts are all 5-star Lifemark™ builds.

The new units have been purpose built to cater for the needs of elderly tenants – with double glazing, wet-area showers, mobility scooter parking, wider pathways and doorways, higher wall sockets and landscaped outdoor areas. They will have a 90-year lifespan – with specific design and accessibility standards to meet tenants’ changing needs.

The projects are part of a wider Council work programme to replace its severely quake-damaged and red-zoned social housing.

“Because we offer our service to people with varying levels of support, and these can change over time, by using the Lifemark™ philosophy we know that it will work for people now and in the future”, says Simone Molenaar, CEO of Aspire Community Support.

The design of the house includes many accessible features such as easily reachable powerpoints, chairs, taps, window latches and light switches.

The house is all on one level, enabling people to access all areas – especially the living areas which are the heart of the home.

The design of the kitchen is totally accessible for all people too – from a low level induction oven and sink, a fully accessible butler’s pantry, cupboards and appliances to a breakfast bar designed to accommodate all mobility needs.
