What is the #UDStepFree Challenge?
This is a challenge to raise awareness for Universal Design in our built environment.
The #UDStepFree Challenge asks people to upload a video of themselves getting into a building or going somewhere ‘step free’ to their Twitter, Facebook and/or Instagram accounts.
Get creative, skateboard, jump, hop, use a lift, drive, scooter, wheel, get carried, fly, ski anything – you just can’t ‘step’.
You need to tag @udstepfree1 on Instagram and @Lifemark on Facebook. Use the hashtag #UDStepFree in your post nominating others to do the same.
So, what is UD and why ‘Step Free’?
Universal Design (UD) is an environment that is best for everyone no matter your age, stage or ability. ‘Step Free’ does not mean to rid the world of steps but for UD in buildings, it is critical to have at least one ‘step free’ entrance.
We need politicians, builders, architects, and designers now more than ever to incorporate UD when designing a world for the future. The #UDStepFree Challenge is a great way to raise this awareness!
